11.3.2025 During a police sobriety operation in Świętochłowice, officers carried out more than 1,200 roadside checks in a single day, focusing on detecting drivers under the influence of alcohol.
Despite the large-scale preventive campaign, two motorists were found driving after drinking.
The first case occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on Łagiewnicka Street, where officers stopped a 66-year-old driver of a BMW. A breath test showed that he had nearly 0.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.
Later, around 9 a.m. on Bukowa Street, police checked a 42-year-old driver of a Volvo. His breathalyser result indicated almost 0.3 per mille of alcohol.
Both drivers had their licences confiscated at the scene and will now face legal proceedings in court. If you have been drinking, do not get behind the wheel or ride a bicycle. Road safety depends on the responsibility of every road user.
